First Post

As the title suggests, this is the first post to my site’s blog. I read Jeffrey Gitomer’s Little Red Book of Selling. In his chapter on personal branding, he recommends registering your own name as a domain name. As davidsullivan dot com was already taken, I chose thedavidsullivan.com to be my branded domain. I thought of that as I recalled the Twitter ID’s of some celebrities. So that is where the domain name and hence the site title comes from.

I am attending my first BarCamp meeting this weekend. I had never even heard of BarCamp until I stumbled upon the local meeting on Twitter. I’m excited about the opportunity to meet other geek minded folks and listen to their presentation topics and have them listen to mine. As of this writing, I still don’t know exactly what I’ll talk about. I’m leaning toward SEO and possibly the new Wolfram|Alpha site (debuing tonight).

I helped with a WordPress security solution today. I saw a tweet about a fix and I tried it and found that there was still work to be done. See the article Make Your WordPress a Little More Secure and note my response to it.

Out.
